Parasailing, surfing, crabbing, sunning, swimming, surf fishing, water skiing
and sailing are all activities fully in Folly’s fold.
When
the urge for sun and sand strikes area residents and visitors to the Charleston
area, they head to Folly Beach, an Atlantic Ocean playground just fifteen
minutes from historic downtown Charleston.
Adjacent to Charleston on the Beach – Holiday Inn is the Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier. The pier is 24 feet wide and extends more than 1045 feet into the Atlantic at 23 feet above sea level, and is complete with a snack bar and tackle shop. At the pier you can fish, walk, watch birds or simply catch the wonderful views of Folly Beach and the Atlantic Ocean.

Folly
Beach is also a nostalgic place, reminding you of the days when beach
pavilions, dance bands and swing were a way of life. Such activities are
a part of Folly’s history, and no doubt was an inspiration for George
Gershwin to rent a beach house and compose his famous folk opera “Porgy
and Bess” on the island.
Parasailing, surfing, crabbing, sunning, swimming, surf fishing, water skiing and sailing are all activities fully in Folly’s fold.
